thread on gun choice for a leopard charge was highly varied in opion--so lets try a poll for favorite gun choice. There more choices than can be reasonably listed so I am listing only what seemed most commented on in the prior thread.

Question:
Your gun choice for leopard charge is??

Choices:
470 N.E. soft bullet load or similar
45-70 guide gun--open sights
300winmag bolt action- removable scope
10 or 12 gauge shotgun w/ 00 load
10 or 12 gauge shotgun w/ slug load
9-3 X 74R drilling or similar

I didn't vote because the poll is too vague!

I think the poll should be two part.

1. shotgun....... shot, or slug

2. lever action.... a. b. or c.

3. double rifle.... a. b. or c.

4. bolt rifle.... a. b. or c.

Then part two for rifles:

A. .300 to .338

B. .366 to .458

C. .475 to .577

In my case I would pick #3, B

............. beer

It want let me vote. I have voted for the shotgun with buckshot but the results don't show it. I tried to vote again and I got a message that said that I had already voted and couldn't vote again. Has anyone else noticed that after they voted, the results didn't change on the number of votes for the item you picked ?

I don't think a recoil operated shotgun reloads unless up on your shoulder. My Beretta sure didn't.

A Rem. 11-87 can be fired repeatedly from the hip. I sure as hell don't want a recoil operated anything.

Oops . . . edited to note that the M4 uses the ARGO system, i.e., it's gas operated.

It's also used by the U.S. Marine Corps.

My Benelli/Berreta recoil operated gun works from the hip and all the Browning Autos i've ever had worked from the hip. But I go along with MacD37 on the selection.

Lets not forget the FN FAL. I know a few PH's that used them (before they had to turn them in) to follow wounded cats. The 20 round box gives you a little more secure feeling.

I have a SXS 12ga shotgun with shorter than normal barrels, mechanically set triggers, screw-in chokes, two of which are rifled, and a set of rifle sights. This gun has produced some nice groups with Brenneke slugs. My choice would be to use this with either the Brennekes or other 1-1/4 oz slugs. I could also use it on birds with other chokes while over there. By the way, the gun fits me very well, I shoot it often, and the recoil doesn't seem to bother me as much as some centerfire rifles do.

I voted 12 gauge, but ammo would have to be plated 00 shot and slug mix. if not a congo /shorty fn fal would do.
