Spanish king loses WWF title

The Spanish branch of the World Wildlife Fund has ousted King Juan Carlos as its honorary president - a title he had held since 1968 - because his recent elephant hunting safari was incompatible with the group’s goal of conserving endangered species.

The animal charity said in a statement that “although such hunting is legal and regulated”, it had “received many expressions of distress from its members and society in general”.

It said members voted in a meeting in Madrid today to “get rid of the honorary president”.

News of the king’s elephant hunting trip in Botswana in April upset many Spaniards who considered it an opulent extravagance at a time of economic distress in the country.

The Spanish royal palace declined to comment on the WWF announcement.

The former WWF(World Wrasslin Federation) lost a suit filed by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund)and had to change its name to World Wrasslin Entertainment.

All these orgenizations are more concerned with their own self-importance than conservation.

Sorry for the comment the topic seemed to be careening out of control and I just gave it a nudge in another direction. But as Saeed pointed out with his comment and I am guessing that is what you were getting at, twats might be a good reference term for those organizations.
I have never been big on "Organised" groups of any kind. They seem to lose sight of their purpose of being and become more concerned with their public image. JMO.

Just think, if only King Juan Carlos had of taken the money he spent, say $75,000, out of his own pocket to kill one of an over population of Eles in Botswana and donated the money to Spain's economy, Spain's financial crisis would have been solved! Shame on you King!!

USFWS still has them banned from import from MOZ and only last year allowed a few from ZAM....they must be endangered or our very own political appointed agents would not be acting this way....

Scriptus, sometimes a little sarcasm goes a long way, even in Eastern Cape! Wave goodby to Brits and they swear revenge and sure enuff, send Land Rovers!
