| It looks like they can be had by mail order from most big suppliers. They run about 120 a box plus shipping. It is not a terribly expensive rifle to buy but feeding it if you are not a reloader is hard to swallow. I got one but I reload. Good hunting. "D" |

| TrapMonkey,
Here in the US you can buy Federal Premium Safari Ammo or Norma for about the same price. $120-$140. Both are excellent quality. You will find your costs of handloading to be little better due to high price of Norma brass $80 a box. By the time you buy brass and bullet and powder, you are hitting that $120 mark. Save yourself the effort. Buy Federal. Available at Cabelas.com, gunbroker.com,and grafs.com. |

| I have a 416 Rigby and my reloads run about $62/box. Here are the numbers: Bullet ~$1.00; Powder ~30 cents; Brass ~ $1.80. Total = $3.10 per round or $62 per box of 20, using good bullets (about half the cost of factory ammo).
Cabelas has Norma 416 Rigby brass for $89.99 for 50 rounds |

| MHC,
That should drop dramatically as you reload because the brass will enjoy several reloads. |

Thanks for the heads up. I must have misread the Cabelas catologue. I thought they were quoting the Rigby brass at a 20 count instead of the 50. That does make a significant difference. Particularly for target practice loading! Thnaks. Hugh |

| It is my understanding that the Norma brass with a low pressure round like the Rigby can be reloaded almost to infinity. Yes the first time you reload it is pretty expensive still. By the third relaoding it is bullet and powder, not much difference than the Remington relaoding costs. Good hunting. "D" |

| Thats why I bought a .375. If you cant afford to practice you will never be any good. |

| Mamba,
Yep, my .375 costs less than .50 cents a shot to plink with. I love that 300gr Hornady RN and it's really accurate in my Ruger M77. Premium bullets would boost that to about $1.50 a shot though... |

| oh dear got my heart set on a .416 rigby, but with ammo prices like that....hmmmm.
maybe its time to buy a reloading kit and give it as a present to a friend on condition that he reload..... LOL!
May try to get the federal stuff, but that is unlikely it'll probably be GASP! Norma stuff at $200 a box in RSA. Super ouch!
thankee all for the advice though, if anyone on here knows of a good RSA supplier of 416 factory loads in soft and solid. please sing out.
cheers tm |
