Guys

I am thinking of updating my hunting video collection with some DVDs. Other than the output of our esteemed colleagues on this forum, can anyone recommend a DVD that I should add to my collection?

Thanks

Fergus

One of AR's own members put out an enjoyable safari hunting DVD, "Africa and the Big Viking".

Christer sent me some for sale in Australia/NZ if any Aussies are interested.

I agree with 500grains, these three DVDs are very well done, and are three of my favorites. If you are into double rifles, then these are three of the best! http://www.outdoorvisions.com

Not on the Aussie covers! I elected to keep the "artistic" attitude and beserker flavour rather than the 'commercial' one. Cool

Under either name or jacket cover they are worthwhile viewing.

Also the Danish "Hunters Video" DVDs:
"Elephant Hunting"; and
"The Cape Buffalo" are very good.

Is Hunters and Ivory available on DVD? Outdoor Visions does not seem to specify.

Edited: I have the other two you mentioned and enjoyed them.

Yes Charles, it is available in DVD format. It is listed on page 9 of the newest catalog. I think they have gone to nothing but DVD as of this catalog! It is $39.95 US + Texas sales Tax in your's, and my case!
This is a great elephant hunting DVD, with several hunts with some of the best PHs in Africa.

The name I find is most likely the American version of the cover graphics! Where can one obtain the Elephant hunting, and Cape Buffalo videos? are they avaliable commercially?

Let's straight this out for everyone.

There is two different covers available on the same movie.

1. The one showed by John above is the first version of the cover and the one that is used in Australia and NZ sold by NitroExpress

Absolutely the same movie is also available as

2. A version made for Outdoor vision and other markets with the name "SOUTH AFRICAN ADVENTURES" aka Africa and the Big Viking.

The change comes after planning for future releases where "Tracks in Africa" aka Big Viking and the Rhino will be available next year.

In a week or so the movie will be available on my web shop at http://www.cchunter.se for others than the US and Pacific markets.

IF YOU'RE WILLING TO CONSIDER SOMETHING OTHER THAN AFRICAN HUNTING; I JUST WATCHED "BOARED TO DEATH" FOR THE SECOND TIME. ITS FROM THE SAME TEAM THAT MADE 'DEATH AND DOUBLE RIFLES". IT IS ALL ABOUT HUNTING CALIFORNIA WILD BOAR WITH BIG DOUBLES AND HEAVY BOLT GUNS, (IN BETWEEN AFRICAN TRIPS).

FOR ME ATLEAST, IT WAS A GOOD WATCH....

I do like Christer's artwork. Very nice. The other is probably a better seller however as it has more photos on the cover.

The big axe is in Christer's rhino movie I believe (and if you believe that .... Wink ).

Duggaboybuff, The Mark Sullivan films are a great venue to study the body langague of cape buffalo. This is because you get to see so many wounded buff up close. I won't go into my opinion of his ethics, but one thing he does know is, the use of double rifles. I have the first four of his films, and have worn them out looking at the actions of the Buffalo, and lion to study the animals, all with the sound OFF, and a quick finger on the fast forward button! Roll Eyes

I will not buy the rest of his films,or books, for personal reasons, but they are of broadcast quality, and the trophies, MS leads his clients to, are of the best quality, usually.

So if you are into double rifles, and Buffalo hunting and want to see them up close and in action, these films will give that to you. beer

In the upper right corner some flags appear, try to find the one you usally see people in your neighbourhood raising on certan occasions and then press this one, if you made it right you are now able to read danish clap

I have almost all of their videos/dvd and a lot of them are great.

Christer, the flags were the first things I looked for on the link NitorX gave me, but that link more than fills my screen, and I can't see it all. I find the flags in the upper left hand corner of "YOUR" web-site, however!

It really isn't necessary, as I'm going to buy your DVD from Outdoor Visions, and I'll worry about the others later! Thanks for the help. thumb I'm a computer illeterate, and it is all I can manage to turn the thing on! killpc bewildered

Just an update to this post. I ordered "Death by Double Rifle" and "With Deadly Intent" ("Hunters and Ivory" was not available on DVD). I watched Death by Double Rifle first and really enjoyed it. I watched With Deadly Intent a week later and after a bit of a slow start, enjoyed this one too. The only down side of these DVDs is that my wife is not to keen on my plan to hunt elephant after seeing them Eeker

Thanks Dan for the recommendations.

I agree. I bought this by mistake on video a few years ago - bought the wrong tape, but was really glad once I got it - is one of the better DG tapes I have. The guy who does the voice-over for this tape is a sports announcer in South Africa - I heard exactly the same voice one night watching the rugby in Joburg!

I have not seen Blood, Sweat and Fear anywhere on DVD though.

http://www.huntersvideo.com is wonderful. I have all of them, the only downside is the price.

Outdoor Visions has a good selection but the bastard ALWAYS screws up my order. I pretty much quit ordering from him. That and most of the DVDs he sells you can buy directly for half of what he sells them for.

I buy a lot of ebay one of the guys on there sells everything Outdoor Visions sells at a half the price.

Jack Brittingham has some DVD's out that I saw recently. They are excellent quality, quite informative and not all are bow hunting oriented. I think the quality is as good as Sullivan's videos with out all the bravado.
