I book my Namib Elephant hunts with Karl and he hunts Sobbe, Sikunga or even Salambala to name a few. We have very good trophy and non exportable bull hunts at reasonable prices. References available. LDK

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

Alan Cilliers used to hunt in the strip. Haven't talked to him in years. He used to post some good average weights.

between the various conservancies where he has quota, Karl has access to a huge area and probably 15-20( probably more ) permits. there is certainly no shortage of elephants- Chobe National Park(Botswana) is just across the river and the elephants move freely back and forth. compare his prices to ANYWHERE else and it is a bargain with a VERY high success rate on quality animals.

I shot this one in the Caprivi last year, Mashi Conservancy:

Going back to Caprivi this year again, hoping to do as well or better!

Africa Thristland has several more elephants on quota there, not Mashi, but not far from there.

From the east to the west (current areas), are:
Impalila and Kasika (Jamy Traut Safaris)
Kabulabula & Salambala (2 brothers that most of us sub lease from)
Sikunga (mine, Ndumo Safaris)
Bamunu (Felix Marnewicke)
2 smaller areas that has recently been gazetted, not sure who hunts them for the year
Dzoti (Hentie Cilliers a Franco Zwarts, nice guys)
Wuparo (Dawid Muller/ Daggaboy Safaris)
Balyerwa (My friend Mike Kibble)
Sobbe (mine/ Ndumo Safaris)
Mashi (Corne Kruger Omejeve, and I think Gysbert of Aru Game lodges has some quota there)
Majuni (shared area, between Omujeve and Jamy Traut)
Kwando conservancy(Jamy Traut)
Kwando core area / Bwabwata East (Allan Cilliers, IMO THE best Caprivi area)
Buffalo core area (Bwabwata West), HuntNamibia, Koos Pienaar and James Chapman, the second best area, but not far behind Bwabwata East, if at all.

There are a few upcoming areas as well, but these are the ones currently being hunted. Then my old area Khaudum North (now hunted by Vaughan Fulton), extends somewhat into the strip, but is considered more Kavango than Caprivi. (If you look at regional boundaries, the line between Kavango and Caprivi lies on the border between Bwabwata East and West, but if you look at the map, Bwabwata West is still in the strip, and so is Mahango core area (soon to be allocated.)

Hope this helps Roland.

Then there are a few Bushmanland areas south of Khaudum park, Mangetti reserve. (the best two being Nyae Nyae and West of Khaudum, with IMO the biggest elephants left in Africa, contact Stefan Jacobs for Nyae Nyae or myself of course and I will set it up. West of Khaudum not currently hunted.)

Then some of the Ovambo areas like Uukwaludi and Uukolonkadi and Ruacana also has elephants, but very small quotas, as does Eviropuko (sp?) and some desert areas like Torra.

Karl,

Do you know if there is a map showing the concessions? Last year I hunted CH1&2 in Botswana and I watched many Elephants crossing into Namibia on many occasions.

We use Henti Van Heerden for our Namibian Elephant hunts. We have been very happy with the elephants being produced in the Dzoti area which as Carl previously stated Henti and Falco have. Ondjou has also produced well but doesn't have the variety of game that the Caprivi possesses. I have spent quite a bit of time personally in Sorris Sorris and a couple of the other Damaraland areas in which the Desert Elephants occur. The desert hunt is quite easy in terms of its overall physical nature. The desert bulls are not as large as the Caprivi and Hereoland bulls.

I hunted Elephant with Hentie in October 2011. I had a blast. So much so that I'm going back in August for Elephant, Buffalo and Hippo.

Hentie is a great guy. If anyone wants more info on my hunts let me know.

It’s been 3-4 years ago since I hunted buffalo there. Saw plenty of elephants and no reason there shouldn’t still be plenty. Poaching in the Caprivi is generally not a major issue.
