However, lets be honest…….. man, the nature of the beast. Aside from the mechanics of feeding ones self and family and paying the bills, in the end men collect, pursue awards, seek to be in record books and do good deeds to obtain verification of self worth and/or fame, fortune and the attention that comes with it. Not just Jim, all men.

You're 1000% Correct, and I don't see why people on this site are so critical for someone setting goals, and accomplishing them! If someone wants to shoot one of everything, and an organization presents awards for it, why not participate. We give ribbons, medals, trophies, rings, for every other sport on this planet, AND NO ONE SEEMS TO MIND THAT!

Hunting is different.
It is different for different people. Who are we to criticise what others want to do legally?

Hunting is fundamentally different; an evolutionary necessity refined, rather than a purely contrived form of amusement (as are most sports).

Steve, I will say, I have to disagree with you entirely. Hunting is a sport, especially big game, "evolutionary necessity" maybe for some, but certainly not a necessity now for the last 50 yrs for most.

I still can't get past the "If it's not my way, it's WRONG, mentality here on AR"

From SCI's point-of-view it's about getting more people out hunting in the wide world, on a regular basis - yes of course that feeds a commercial gain in the safari industry - but that is all part of the larger conservation picture.

No thanks. Not interested. It would interfere with my SCUBA diving.

Besides, duikers are good for camp meat only. coffee

Community-Based Conservation and Hunting Program Opens for Collector Species
(posted March - 2014)

By Barbara Crown, Editor

A completely new development in Tanzania is a community-based conservation project and hunting program in Zanzibar, the main island of an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania. Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region. The conservation and hunting program focuses on several rare duikers found only there.

Safari operator Michel Mantheakis started researching the area and the species there in 2008. He was joined by Steve Kobrine in 2009. Together they formed Zanzibar Wildlife Safaris, with Mantheakis as the Tanzanian majority shareholder. After years of work and personal investment, they convinced the government to let them establish the first hunting conservation program in Zanzibar.......
