Where can one obtain the requirements for legally selling elephant ivory? I'm inquiring on behalf of an older gentleman who has expressed an interest in selling four tusks that have been in his possession for many years. Thanks.

I've always wondered if you could have your own legally imported ivory worked for items that you were keeping? Like an ivory handled knife?

From the USFWS...it is legal to sell sport-hunted African ivory imported before Jan.19,1990 within a state. Are there established buyers in Texas or are sales done person to person?

Strange rules aren't they? I always thought a more reasonable rule would be that after you have kept your sporthunted trophy ivory for at least 10-15 years you could then sale it without restrictions, with no more than two legal sales in an individual's lifetime. In a Democracy being able to own personal property is one of the main concepts. If you own it, you should be able to sale it within reason. JMO BH63 Hunting buff is better than sex!
