Have an opportunity to book with Bulembi Safaris…

Do not have the names of available PHs…

Would be hunting in northern Omay on a concession owned by Butch Walker...

I used the search function and could not find any current information…

Does anyone have any current information/experience with this outfitter or hunting in this area?

Thanks for any responses

Matt V.

Good area. Butch is a stand up guy. Nice Buffalo, but no plainsgame to speak of.

I would book it.

Butch has good PH's and Omay north is getting better with Martin Peters managing the concession for Butch.

I have hunted the Omay North from Umi camp in 2004 and Omay South from Chifudzi camp last year. Beautiful area with sizable buffalo population especially later in the season when water dries out in Matusadona Park. The north side is also exceptional for leopard. There are Sable, Waterbuck and Kudu but not in good numbers.

I hunted out of the Omay (MacKenzie camp) in September of '06. Had a great hunt. Area is very rugged but beautiful. We WALKED alot chasing/tracking buff. Saw a lot of them....spooked a bunch too. It amazed me that we could be 20 yards from 30 head of buff and smell them, hear them....but not see them. Then they get your wind......exciting stuff.
A gent named Steve (great guy) was managing the MacKenzie camp for Butch. It sits high above Lake Kariba....right on the lake. Poaching had been a serious problem in the area...hope that's changed a bit. All in all....you will have a great time.

I hunted in the Omay south, lots of buffalo and pissed off cow elephants, as someone said above no plainsgame to speak of. Good buff though, took this one there on the first day.
