I’m looking for evaluations from actual users of the Federal Safari Premium 458 WinMag 500 grain Woodleigh Hydro Shock bullets on elephant. Results - positive or negative? Do they penetrate sufficiently on the typical heart/lung or frontal or lateral brain shots? I usually use CEB BBW#13 solids in other calibers but now have an opportunity to acquire the Federal factory loaded Woodleigh 458 WM Hydro Shock Safari Premium ammo.

Can’t comment on the Woodleighs. A .458 WM loaded with 450 gr CEB solids going 2250 (easily done) or 500 gr CEB solids going 2150 (easily done)…WILL penetrate an ele WELL for ANY shot needed. I can tell you this. The CEB BBW #13 solid is an excellent bullet — the bullet I reach for when spending the money to hunt ele…which I am known to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. Thanks. Agree with your assessment of the CEB BBW#13s on ele based on my own experience with the 0.510” @ 2175 and the 0.423” @ 2475. Looking at the Federal Hydro Shock loads for a friend’s 458 WM.
