Good evening gents, I have always been a fanatical Zimbabwe hunter and love to know the area and history of the areas where i hunt. Im also very interested in the Rhodesia/Zim war stories and history and was very exited to get hold of this new book called : Special Branch war, Slaughter in the Rhodesian Bush, Southern Matabeleland, 1976-1980.It is written by Ed Bird. Having seen and read all the hunting reports of Bubye valley conservancy its interesting to read of all the attacks and fighting that took place at what BVC was then known as Liebigs Ranches/ Lemco and surrounding ranches and farms. Have a look at www.30degreessouth.co.za ,not sure if they ship to overseas. I have hunted the Zim lowveld for years from 1989 up to today and must honestly say i did not realise that the Lowveld saw so much bush-war action. I was thinking this might be a good and interesting read for hunters hunting in that area and on BVC.

I went on my first safari in 1982 to the Buybe area. It was with Buybe Safaris. I remember a lot of burned out, shot up buildings. I believe it was such a hotspot because of the railway line that ran to SA and being so close to the border. Had a great hunt. Nothing like your first safari.
