Crocodile devours woman Midlands Reporter February 26, 2008 A 27-YEAR-OLD Silobela woman was attacked and devoured by a crocodile while trying to cross Gweru River, police confirmed. The now-deceased, who was in the company of her husband when the incident happened, has been identified as Mrs Monica Saza. The police spokesman for Midlands Province, Inspector Patrick Chademana, said the incident happened on Friday last week at Exchange Dam in Silobela. “The woman, who was the in company of her husband, was trying to cross Gweru River through a narrow dam wall. “While still trying to negotiate their way, a crocodile attacked the now deceased on the leg and pulled her into the water,†he said. Insp Chademana said the husband who escaped unhurt rushed to inform some villagers who later found parts of his wife’s body floating in the river. “Only the legs, part of the abdomen and a hand were found floating in the river,†he said. Insp Chademana said the matter was later reported to the police who then attended to the scene. “Police managed to retrieve the few remaining body parts that were floating in the river,†he said.
