I purchased a auctioned buffalo hunt at the DCS convention that Aubrey donated--leaving June 24th.

Have any of you hunted with Aubrey?

Experience?

What shipping service did you use to ship horns and hides back to USA?

What is cost?

He drives a LAND ROVER and his rifle has DUCT TAPE on it, although that could be handy when needed to effect repairs to said Landy when required. Big Grin

Twbhunter - I've spent some time with Aubrey in his Sengwe 1 block. I think you'll be just fine, and likely have a very good hunt. Camp is nice, food good, and Aubrey's a good host. Good luck!!

[FLASH_VIDEO] [/FLASH_VIDEO]

my buffalo skull mount from last year in Zim arrived in San Francisco 3 days ago and will be home day after tomorrow- OVER $2400 ALL TOTAL. originally i wasn't even going to ship it home( i already have a nice buff pedestal mount taken in Tz,) but decided to go ahead with a European mount. little did i know how much that mistake would cost me- $500 dip and pack, $90 skull bleach, $360 doc fees and road shipment from Bulawayo to Harare, $780 air freight from HRE to San Fran, $720 custom clearance and forward shipping from SF to Fresno(150 miles). learned my lesson though- no more taxidermy fees/ shipping costs!!!!! everything from now on comes home on a memory chip in my camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aubrey will be on High Caliber Radio This Friday at 1pm CST (you can get it online at fortsmithradiogroup.com click on the kfpw-am1230 icon) It will replay on Sunday at 5pm Cst). Aubrey's a good guy and I'm looking forward to hunting with him later this year. I think you'll have a good hunt and a great time.
We are going to discuss culling and plains game shooting and generally hunting in his concessions. To all those wanting copies of the interviews with Steve and RLI historian Chris Cocks, I hope to have the software to make the huge audio files emailable soon.

Aubrey and Paul are both total gentlemen or genitalmen depending on how the Landy is acting rotflmoAll humor aside you have booked with one of the best if your going with Aubrey and his guys. his reputation is impeccable. he is a total professional. I hope to see him again later this year and to do a little hunting and maybe some croc fishing if we can convince Luan to loan me a rod and reel Big Grin

Gents:
It is good to read all this. Aubrey and I am in the talking stage of a 2012 hunt for buffalo (although he sent me today elephant prices). If all works out I will hunt with Aubrey in Zim and video the hunt and then on to Australia for another video hunt for water buffalo with two Alaskans and two Arizonians. Aubrey and I met at the 2010 DSC and he has been good in following through with information and contact details. Prior to Aubrey, four other blokes with whom I had an interest in hunting with dropped communication. The folks as the African Hunter magazine mentioned to me that many PHs are their own worst enemy when it comes to public relations. So, when they dropped the ball, I moved on. Aubrey has been a good gent in this with no high pressure sales. Should be fun.
Cheers, all.
Cal

I know 2 of the ph's that work for Aubrey. I have known them a long time. They are both excellent hunters and true gentlemen. While I have not hunted with Aubrey, I have hunted with these PH's. They are outstanding. I would go based upon that alone.

Thanks for all the great feedback provided on Aubrey.

Normally I check out a trip in detail before purchasing.

My intention at the DSC convention was to purchase a Red Stage hunt but when this hunt was auctioned off it just sounded like a good deal.

I'll keep you posted on my adventures with Aubrey and the LANDY.

Tom - your in for the high jump my friend.

BTW - you Landy bashers..... i recently read an article where some poor PH (great guy and outfit) had to patch his Toyota Landcruiser together with cableties..... rotflmo suckers

Tom can give us his opinion on my Landy after the hunt (be warned trophy size is dependant on how good you rate the land rover)

Jdollar = I agree compltely. It's pictures only for me as well. It just feels like everyone in Africa from the dip and pack to the shipping agent to the airlines then the clearing agents in the US are charging exorbinant prices simply because they can.

BOOM FRIGGEN landrovers. Even when they don't go anywhere, broken down, KAPUT, they still manage to bite a well intentioned person in the "ASS." Damn things should be banned from the Planet. Big Grin Mad Cool

I see some of the forum members seem a little on the weak side. A bit of a snuffle and a wheeze, and the pills and capsules are being swallowed by the handful. I suppose one should be grateful, otherwise the jumbos and buffs will become too comfortable. I do trust that you are on the mend Aubrey. Cool Of course you should know that having a fondness for crappy burgers is a sign of a man a little touched in the head? Big Grin
