I am off to the Selous in 3 weeks and wonder what the conditions are this year as far as the rains and what I can expect. Is it still wet? I know this is rather early in the season and hopefully I will not have problems..Thanks

Bwana1, just talked to two of the camps in the selous today on their sat. phone. The first camp said that the grass was 10 feet tall and most is still green. The second camp on the Luwegu River said that grass was not too bad there and will not be any problem, but does need some burning. Still wet in places, but nothing unusual. They are seeing plenty of buffalo and game as well. One client is there now and only second day of hunting and has already taken 2 buffalo. Do not know where you are going, but expect some grass and you should do fine if you are in a good area.

It is about as usual mostly high grass and green, not much burning going on, it is probably a little harder hunting and you don't actually see as much game, but you will see enough.. You will really get a good look at your Buffalo in that stuff. Up close and personal, but that makes shot placement easy and results in quick kills..I like this type of hunting, it adds greatly to the sport...I would recommend to everyone who likes to hunt try July in the Selous..
