Does anyone have a packing list they would be willing to share? If it makes a difference I will hunting plains game in Namibia the last two weeks of May with my wife as an observer. Free range eland is the primary animal.

I started with Terry Carr's Tips and Packing List and improvised from there.

I have two checklists in pdf format in the center of the following page that can be downloaded and printed out: Resource Guide

I leave for Africa again in one week. In packing this time, and every time, I find that the lists evolove a bit on each trip.

Some people take as little as possible. I take a lot, but often leave items (first aid kit, etc.) behind with the safari operator.

the packing lists that Terry Carr has is great. I went PG hunting in Namibia last year and I think one could easily get by with the following and have no issues.
2 sets civilan clothes for travel
2 set hunting clothes - long pants, long sleeve shirts
3 sets socks
underwear
camp lounge wear
hunting boots - I took Russell PH's, not necessary but I like them, I wore them on the plane
Pair of tennis shoes/comfortable camp shoes
sunscreen
hat
sunglasses
sunscreen
one rifle - 40 rounds of ammo, I took 375 H&H had no problems
binos
gloves(leather)
knit hat
jacket for cold morning car rides
gun slip/sock/lt weight case to keep your rifle from getting beaten up in the safari car
meds
reading material for plane
candy/gum
cash
all pertinent paperwork - contract, 4457s, passport, copy of passport - I would scan a copy and email to yourself that way you can always access from the web; SAP forms, Namibia forms, if connecting through Amsterdam, Dutch form
camera with extra memory card
writing stuff
rifle cleaning/repair kit with some common screws, sling swivels, with a couple of tools in case you need it
knife/leatherman/multi tool
extra duffle that is packed in your checked bag to allow you to buy souvenirs

I found Africa to be very gear minimalist. The less stuff you take the better imo.

Have fun!
