The sundowners have hit bottom and mixed with a 4 course dinner. The fire is getting to a low ebb and your eyelids are getting heavy. Its a short walk to your tent, but you have to stop on the way and gaze into the heavens. The stars that dot the night sky are brilliant, you can see the milky way so clearly that you forget you need glasses to read. The southern cross watches over you as you crawl into bed. Sleep comes easily, but the dreams are of that big male leopard that is munching on the impala you hung for him this afternoon. Its in the middle of the night sometime when you awaken. There is a pride of lions not to far away, calling to each other. Their throaty roars echo down the river. Now its the hippos turn, you can hear at least 4 different pods talking to each other. Each answer is a different sound, and you know there is spoken language among hippos. The sounds of the night are like a soothing brahms lulaby. As you drift back to sleep, you hear the soft sounds of some animal just outside your window. Thoughts of hyena stories drift through your mind, but are quickly overtaken by your own snoring. Morning is coming soon | ||
