Inspired by Tim Herald's group hunt video in Uganda and some of the wonderful old specimens taken by Russ and Mike. This is the first of a few large oil studies that I am considering. Too many artists have concentrated on droopy 50 inchers and I am more inclined to paint age rather than beauty. Beautiful painting.. As to the elusive 40 incher so claimed on AR and world wide, that is one inch on each horn of a common 38 incher WOW!! I have a set of 38 inch horns I displayed on my gunshow tables, everybody walked by told me how many times they had been to Africa and called my Buff on the table a good 42 inch bull!! He does have large bosses, but short and tight..Time to toss the tape.. Hmmm a silly milimeter or two.
