I am very surprised that there hasn't been more traffic on AR about "Trophy the Movie".

A good friend of mine, Chris Moore, who features in the film kept me in the loop while portions of it were being filmed in the Omay, and he introduced me to Shaul and Christina at lunch in Harare a few months

I believe it's a film that no one who has any opinions about, from any perspective, pro or anti, will walk away from being 100% happy, but I also think that it has been fairly and objectively put together. I think it is a good treatment of hunting for conservation and that it is a good thing overall. The intention was to make people think, and it has been hugely successful at that.

When I review it for the various magazines I write for, my review will be favorable. Hunters have an opportunity here, because those whose minds are not made up either way can take away from "Trophy" that hunting is a viable part of wildlife management and conservation. The film also looks in depth at how it gets rural villagers on sides, and how they have to be involved in any successful conservation initiatives; the antis tend to factor them out of the equation, which is a big mistake.

I will say again, this is an opportunity for us. It is what WE make of it, and I believe we should support the film.

What follows is a link to a televised Q&A session, and I think this illustrates my point.

I think most of us have heard very little about it...

The Build program certainly piques my interest in the movie. No doubt hunting is, and always will be controversial. I think most of us have pangs of remorse in the taking of a particular animal. To see younger "hipsters" start to see through the eyes of Africans instead of hunters or antis is a huge step in the right direction. Sounds like the film will not recruit new hunters but will try and explain a complex situation like sustainability of wild places and beasts that so many with different views all work towards. And that is a worthy accomplishment in and of itself, and should force people to think.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

I think that is a different film McKay.

I believe this is the official trailer. FYI, while they show CBL in the film, the lion that Phillip shoots and shows in the trailer is not a CBL, it comes from the Omay.
