Is a CITES required for lion in Zim? I have the forms for Leopard but several people are saying t isn't required for lion. I'm confused.

Not for Lion. Only Leopard, Elephant and Crocodile require CITES tags in Zimbabwe.

With kind regards

I think it’s a bit of technicality.

It’s not a CITES II or I animal, but I do think you get a CITES form filled out for the export- just not that you need to get involved with … for CITES.

For import into the US, we currently have a bit of a run around for USFWS certification under US law. I would recommend getting conservation force involved- it’s cheap for the peace of mind.

I shot a nice one 2 years ago, and while the leopard I shot on the same hunt is here, the lion is still awaiting USFWS clearance review of the documents to import it. There is some paperwork you have to fill out for USFWS, but it’s not a CITES form.
