Thus far how have the rains been? How far away is the maize harvest in Eastern Zim?

Gary, I heard the maize crop will be just about perfect around the first week in April. Big Grin

Word from the bush is that there are "lots of elephant in the East right now". And I am sure there is a big one with your name on it - good luck to you and Alan!

Gunny and Bob

This will seem like sales talk BUT- Gunny as we talk there are LOTS of eles in the East where you will be hunting. The maize has just ripened and there is havoc every night with eles enjoying the maize. Bongi our camp manager has been under serious pressure from the locals wanting an ele shot- but he has been holding out waiting for you guys to arrive so by all accounts it will be a good hunt!

Bob on your side the rains have not been good in the NW region areas-good news for your hunt! So long as Forestry pump that will pull in the ele bulls- we will be sending extra Diesel and fan belts for the pumps which is if there is a problem and they are not pumping- thats it.

Gunny see you in a few days time! Cheers Buzz

Is it too early to give a reasonable forecast for how the Elephant hunting in Matetsi 3 will be in September?

I know this is way far off but I was curious about the gut feelings of our Zimbabwe professionals. Thanks in advance and I realize it's mostly a guess.

Matetsi three in September is nothing but hundred pounders if my memory serves me correctly.

Unless their 3 legged 100 pounders, that don't help a first timer like me.

Gunny shot a beautiful ele bull out of a herd of about 100 on the second day of his hunt! I will leave the rest for him to tell on his return.

By all accounts the East will have another great season and am so looking forward to our hunt BillC!
