I would think you should have asked PRIOR to booking, no?

I believe it is possible to get your full bag in that length of time since a few of those species will be smaller game like duiker/steinbok that are mainly targets of opportunity. If I could give one piece of advice, make sure you have some kind of priority list so that the PH knows clearly what is most important to you. You will love it, believe you me.

I am sure you will be OK, the RSA packages are generally pretty safe bets and excellent value.

Here are a couple of questions to ask, however:

1. How big is the property I will be hunting? Is there more than 1 property involved and if so, how much traveling will we be doing?

2. Can I hunt on foot if I want to?

3. Are the animals in the package all mature males, or will we be culling? How big were the last three hunter's trophies, and can you give me their contact info?

9 (or is it 11) animals in 9 days (the clock starts when they pick you up at the airport usually) sounds like you won't be doing much picking and choosing. You might be able to pull this off on foot if you are really good and if there is plenty of game that hasn't been chased a lot, but I suspect you will have to choose between shooting from (or near) the vehicle and not getting all the species.

Since it's your first Safari, you might find the following article useful:

I wish you all the best.

I have booked a hunt in SA with Paul Stones Safari's for the first week in sept for a 10 day plainsgame hunt. There are nine animals included in the package plus the warthog and zebra that I also wanted in addition are also avail. I booked through Mark Audino with Henley and Delamere adventuring.

Has anyone had any experience with either of these guys?-Mark really seems to be very knowledgeable and helpful in planning this hunt because it will be my first time in Africa and really dont know what to expect except for what he has told me. He really seems to run a 1st class operation(booking agent)

I've known Paul for years, he's a reliable operator & I've never heard anything bad about him. You don't say where you're hunting, but I would expect it to be in Zululand.

George S:

How sadly true! I have often read such queries and had the same thought myself. (BTW, that's one big buff -and I don't mean only the horn spread. Mind saying where you took him?)

Thanks, Gerald. I took that 43 3/8" buff in the Muhesi area of Tanzania.

George,I gathered all necessary info from my booking agent to paint a pretty good picture of whats going on-and I trust his judgement from what I have seen and from the high level of service that I have recieved.

Maybe I should have clarified myself as I was asking (or meant to ask) If any one has done the same as I and if they wanted to share in their experiece.

Believe me, I did not go into this blindly.
