I am trying to decide on the bullet for my 300 Wby. Mag for plains game in Zimbabwe. I am thinking about the 180 grain Barnes XLC, Nosler or the 200 grain Nosler. I have not worked up a load with these bullets except the 180 Nosler and wanted some opinions before I bought brands to try. I am leaning toward the Barnes. Has anyone used these. Doug

I used the 180 Nosler Combined Technology Partition Gold (moly free) in my 300 win mag last year on Gemsbok, Kudu and zebra with good results.

I've had excellent results with .30 cal x-bullets, but opinions vary greatly on them.

Mh, I used the 180gr Nosler Partition Protected Point in my 300Win. Great results on Gemsbok, Kudu, Wildebeest, Zebra, Impala & Springbok (80 yds to 265 yds). I will use this combo again, hopefully soon! Kind Regards cjw3

The Nosler 200 gr. .308 bullet is about the finest bullet that I have ever used on plainsgame, deer and elk, and it is the bullet by which I judge all others...Closely followed by the Woodleigh 200 gr. PP....Both are equally as good....

I don't hunt w/ a .30 anything, but I do use the NP's for all of my hunting rifles. Performance has always been predictable. When I go back to Africa in 2004, I'll be using 210gr NP's for plainsgame (.338-06)& probably 400gr Woodleigh's for my .404 on buffalo. I am going to give the .380gr North Forks a try though. NF's have given good results for several of the guys here who hunt alot more than I have time to. Shoot whichever bullet gives you the best accuracy.
