I would appreciate hearing from anybody who has used these bullets on buffalo, such as your specific load and velocities for the .458 Lott (or the Win mag for that matter), what the performance was (recovered or pass-through), the distances you shot from, if you used in conjunction with softs/solids, etc.

Mike as always is helpful and a great resource, but I am hopeful that some of our members can provide some additional info too.

Thanks!

Bill

I have shot a giraffe with North fork 458 CPS and FPS, and brained an elephant with the FNS in my 450 No2 double. They are excellent bullets.

Ray Atkinson must be off hunting as I have not heard anything out of him on AR or from PM for a few days now. But, for sure not putting words in his mouth, he has stated that he uses nothing else but North Fork CPS's on Buff now.

I have put 3 500 gr. .474 North Fork CPS through buff and giraffe and they work great. You get almost as much penetration as a solid, but a wider wound channel.

I have used the flat nose bullets for buff and elephants. Out of my 458wm velocity was 2190fps, which isn't near max but provided fantastic penetration. "Too much" for buff if there is such a thing. The cup points ought to run the same velocity I would think. Mike changed the band pattern after I developed my load so it is out of date.
