The shell I wanted to take to Africa on a Plains Game hunt is not going to available until maybe just before we leave. My question is, with the limited factory loads of the 300 RUM, which of these two choices is my best:

Remington 200 Gr Premier® A-Frame or
Remington 180 Gr Swiftâ„¢ Sciroccoâ„¢ Bonded or
Federal 180 Gr Trophy bonded bear claw

I am leaning toward the 200 gr, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Out of the 3 I would take the 200 SAF. I believe the 180 Nosler Partition is avaialble also and you are never wrong with that bullet.

My vote would be the Federals. I have taken them twice in the .300 WSM and they work superb.

Go with the 200 gr. A-Frame.

All three will work just fine but I might prefer the A-Frame, Nosler Partition or TBBC if eland are on the menu.

I just got back from Africa where I took 6 animals using a 300 Ultra using the 200 gr. A-frames and 2 animals with a 30-06 using 180 gr. A-frames and they were awesome. I recovered 4 bullets with perfect performance. Great weight retention and perfect mushroom, great transfer of energy too. They shoot great in my 300 Ultra. You will be very happy with them.

I would recommend the 200gr. SAF. I used the 300 RUM 200gr. NP in '02 with good success on Kudu, Sable, Roan, and plainsgame. In '03 the .375 RUM with 300gr SAF was devastating on Eland, Buff, and Hippo.
The SAF bullet gave great results on all recovered. I am taking the new 200gr. SAF 300 RUM in July this year to break it in. I anticipate great results.
