Having watched Under Wild Skies on ESPN Sunday, you may have seen the Cape Buffalo go down with 2 shots from a Westley Richards Explorer Paradox gun. The shells looked like Twelve gauge, two and a half inchers, probably from WR as well. Wouldn't the X slugs from Federal in 10 or 12 gauge modern slug gun work as well?

There was a reason Nitro Express smokeless cartridges replaced the old and slow 4-bore, 8-bore and 10-bore cartridges for dangerous game. Note 12-bore is not even mentioned in most cases.

However no doubt they killed a lot of game and also wounded a lot of animals which escaped.

Martin,

I shall be going to India in a couple of months and if you'd like a chat with some of the old bandicoots it would be a pleasure to have you with us. I could even book you a room at my club when I am there and you would be able to stay in a grand old place that is full of history.

Please consider my invitation open.

Good hunting!

The Quinine in the Tonic wards off Malaria. So you need to get a few G&Ts in you, for medicinal purposes.

I say, never been a hard liquor man, m'self. Beer and claret with the occasional spot of porter suit me better but I once found m'self on the veranda of the Vic Falls Hotel sittin' there lookin' out over 40 acres of lawn to Rhodes' iron bridge and the mist of the Falls. I had just come in out of the bush, don'tcherknow, and was sittin' there in m'khakis when the waiter came up behind me. I tell yer, y'coulda shaved with the crease on his trousers and used his shoes for the mirror and when he asked "Would the gentleman care for something to drink?" in his deep rollin' African baritone, the only thing I could reply was "Gilby's and tonic, if yer don't mind." For some reason, nothin' else coulda done, what?

Specialist,

Planter's Punch has orange juice and could provide your daily requirement of Vitamin C

Both have their uses.

Cheers!
