I've stayed at the Afton House four times now and highly recommend it. Louis really knows his way around the Jo'burg airport, (believe he's retired from South African Airlines), and sorts out a lot of luggage/firearm problems. It happens that I've always eaten at the "cowboy steak place" and found it a good value too.

Whereas it may not be a fancy place everyone is very nice and acomadating. You feel safe and your guns are secure, breakfast was quite good and transportation service was great.

The Cowboy Steakhouse was OK. [Remember I am from Texas, we have very good beef here], but the Seafood Basket "was to die for." I ate there twice. It is worth a flight on the AirBus just to eat there.

Not a must see, but you might ask Louie to take you to the wholesale curio shop. Lots of small items that make good gifts for the grandkids as well as some better quality carvings and artwork. We purchased a fully carved chair for about $50 US in 2000;disassembled,wrapped (with a handle)and ready to go on the plane as my second bag.
