Took a CZ Lott and had the barrel whacked off (22.5"), removed the rear sight bulge and fitted with NECG sights, a 2-panel bolt handle, and a CZ Safari stock. 8.7 lbs.

Looks pretty cool Bill. Have you shot it yet? If so how is it to shoot? Looks like it has a fair bit of drop on the stock. Or am I looking at it wrong.

Steve,

Yea, I think it has the same drop as the hogback. I found it in the "junk pile" at CZ and is supposedly only available in Europe. The criteria were that it was slim, trim, and lightweight (2.15 lbs.).

Shot it today. Has a fast barrel. Got ~2160 fps with the 550 gr. Woodlieghs. Should easily get 2200 fps (~5800 ft-lbs). Big enough.

Will,

Am I having a flashback? Didn't you say something awhile back about the Lott and heavy recoil. I thought that was the reason for the 416 Taylor. Please straighten me out!

Will,

Yeah! I get a headache thinking about shooting that thing. It does seem to fit the big punch but portable description very well. It's handy!

I'll keep that in mind.

Where is the scope? Or have we changed our strong and often sour opinon on that little subject too?

So fickle....

I am sure your Taylor is not too happy about this turn of events.

Nice rifle though!

Now that's a bigger hammer!

Here's the Rx:

As few shots at the bench as are absolutely and unavoidably needed to zero the beast.

All the rest to be fired for effect!

I like it.

You'll love it! Like Mike says, make sure to hang on. . . tight! Take his advice on how to shoot it (he's posted it here before and it is very useful)

Dude, with that thing at only 8# and change, you ought to get a pallet of Tylenol. Oh, I forgot, you're only shooting 458 WinMag equivalent or such. Maybe, only half a pallet.

A 550 grain Woodleigh at 2,150 is anyhting but a 458 Win. If you don't believe me try one. At 8.5 lbs and that load it should certainly get your attention.

It's all about bustin' chops. Don't worry about it, I'm sure Will ain't worryin' none. I have tried that 550/2150 load combo in my RSM. Since it didn't shoot to point of aim, and not wanting to carry an extra front sight calibrated just to that load, I dropped it. Besides, anybody who likes to shoot 8# biggies deserves all the headaches he can get.

Will, you're a better man than I. Your Lott must go about 9 pounds topped up, right?

It will mostly see sissy loads, 500 gr. bullets at ~2100 fps. The heavy stuff, 550 gr. at ~2200 fps will be mostly reserved for field use!
