I know how you feel. It's like the book of your life is taken out of your hands, they tear out the important chapter that was your son, then hand it back to you and say, "now, this is the rest of your life". Three years later you will look at his picture on a table, on your desk, stuck to the refrigerator, and it will take your breath away. It will still seem unreal and unfair; and it is. Don't keep him to yourself. Never stop talking about him. He lives on if you insist on it. You have a son. He's just not with you. I know how you feel, I'm looking at a photo on my refrigerator door right now. I can not guarantee that it will hurt less one day. It hasn't yet. Just take it day to day. Life's good, but I'm sure you'll understand, it will never be as good as it was. Don't dwell on how he died, dwell on how he lived, and the joy he brought to you and others he met.

Thank you Brad for bringing Lucas into this world. If not for Lucas and our soldiers where would our freedom and country be? My son is a Marine and has spent two tours fighting for freedom and humanity in Iraq. He was hurt from a RPG last year and is still recovering today. Lucas could not have died for a better cause than fighting for us. Thank you Lucas for a job well done!

Brad, I have no words adequate to comfort you on your loss, nor even to express my deepest sympathies. The best I can do is add Lucas to my personal list of the "Gone but not Forgotten." Don_G ...from Texas, by way of Mason, Ohio and Aurora, Colorado!

Loss of a parent is a sorrow but part of life - loss of a child is a tragedy. I thank both of you for your actions to keep the rest of us safe here at home. I wish I had some thing profound or comforting to add, but the best I can do is to say that we appreciate your sacrifice and share your pain.
