Dear Guests .. Was just speaking to Phil Minnaar Chairman of the Professional Hunters Assocition Zambia. He mentioned they will be at (BOOTH #6 in the Trail's End Pavillion) Phil and Zambia PH/Outfitter Roland Norton are formally manning the booth and there will be another very interesting person using the facility periodically, Wildlife Biologist Dr. Paula White, whom is doing some ongoing research on Lions in Zambia. Although I have not personally met Phil I researched his BIO which is VERY extensive and dates back to earlier times in Africa, he could be an (interesting person to chat with) not only about promotion of Zambia hunting BUT Africa in general. Phil whom is also vice Chairman of the Wildlife Producers Association og Zambia welcomes a visit from (the AR guests) whom care to find out specific information not only about Zambia as a hunting destination, but ANY OTHER information on the country or Africa in general. Shipwreck Diver Born and raised in South Africa as a eleventh generation African, with a family history dating back to the arrival of the French Huguenots in 1688, Phil is true African. One of those very few naturals that " has and done" every exiting and challenging experience that only life in Africa can offer. His mother is a descendant of Andrie Pretorius, the commander of the "Battle of Blood River" fought in 1838 against the Zulu’s warriors of Dingaan, the Zulu chief. His father, grand-father and great grand father were pioneers in the discovery of gold and fossils in the well known world heritage site "The Cradle of Humankind" were they grew up on their family farm since 1881. Phil worked his way through various facet of the safari industry throughout Southern Africa. In 1979 he started as a game ranger in a game capture unit of Nature Conservation in South Africa, catching from lions and buffalo’s to crocodiles and hippo's. It was during this time that he were introduces to the wildlife film industry with the making of a documentary on the capture, transportation and relocation of the highly endangered Roan antelope. (Hippotragus equinus) This outstanding wildlife film production was well ahead of its time, broadcast on the world-renowned Television show, 50/50 with SABC-TV. Phil also did his Commercial pilot’s license in South Africa and flew for 5 years as a bush pilot in the Okavango Delta in Botswana logging-up over 6000 hours of bush flying experience. His experiences also include photographic safaris, Tiger fishing safaris, guided walking safaris in Big 5 country, safari camp and game lodge management, game ranch management with game and field management and re-introduction of lost species, professional hunting, deep see shipwreck diving, to name but a few. Phil was the founder member of "African Fly-In Safaris" in South Africa and co-owner of "Game Trackers-Air" in Botswana. He also own "Hunters Africa" Hunting Safaris and "Quest Africa" Photographic Safaris in Namibia. Phil was a full register and licensed professional hunter operating in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique and Zambia. He was one of only 27 professional hunter's licenses to hunt the Big 5 in Namibia. Under his clientele counted Count Joachim Von Rippentrop, Count Von den Schulenburg (second in charge to Staffenberg, Adolf Hitler's failed assassinator) and Count Christian Von Bismarck (grandson of the first German Reich Counselor). He also speaks German fluently. In 1998 Phil became the first white man to be chosen as a senior adviser (Induna) to Chief Sifo of the Mayeyi Tribe in the Mayeyi Traditional Authority in the Eastern Caprivi, Namibia. He initiated community projects like vegetable gardens and thatch-grass cutting. He started-up a anti-pouching unite and were the main drive behind the Sangwali game management conservancy for the protection of the environment. He also reopened the Lizaoli traditional village after it was closed for some years and supported their affords to success.
