I just returned from bowhunting in Namibia. Here is a link if you want to see some pictures.

My best animal was a 56 inch Kudu with a bow.

The reason for this posting is that the plane I flew from Atlanta to J'berg gave me about 4 inches of leg room between my knee cap and the seat in front of me. My son was also comfortable and he is 6'2" tall but I am only 5'8". I asked the stewardess about this and she told me that this plane had been recently reconfigured with rows of seats being removed to make it less cramped. We were in seats 54 H/K which was a right hand along the wall, aisle and window. My son and I slept almost 8 hours on the way over as we were actually comfortable. I gave her a positive compliment and asked her to pass it along to management. The next thing I know, she goes up to first class and brings me back a bottle of champaigne. When I asked why, she told me that the head stewardess was telling me thank you for saying something positive! They are all tired of hearing the bitching from passengers.

The flight back was not as good. My son had seat 74D which allowed him to stretch his legs out straight as there was no seat in front of him. I was in 74E and had very little room between my knee cap and the seat in front of me. I survived by angling my feet towards the large open space in front of my son.

Ron,

That first picture of the Kudu is very very interesting. Its not only a great Kudu - its a great picture.

Congratulations

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Congrats on the nice kudu! We just got back from Namibia and that flight was something else! Going to Africa was miserable as the person in front had their chair back and it was impossible for me to keep my knees up. Also I couldn't see the video screen on the back of the seat! On the way back we got the front row with the wall, so it was much better. I really hope they do something better with their seats. That is too long of a flight to be cramped like sardines!

Northway

Who did you hunt with?

We were with a smaller operator named Antonie Louw of Makalaan Safaris. We had a great trip to include wingshooting the guineas/doves and tigerfishing on the Okavango River
