Having George post here was a tremondous boon to me and doubtless to many others. Loved his book, and I am positive that I would have loved the man, had I ever been privileged to meet him. A great loss.

I only met George Hoffman once briefly at Dallas Safari Club show. My sympathy to the Hoffman family and friends. In the old Destroyer Navy When it was better than Well Done. We flew.

It is with absolute shock and sadness that I received the news of Georges passing. He remained a true friend to the last. Goodbye George . I have good memories of you. You have left us with a good caliber and I know that a part of you will always walk the plains of Africa. We will remember you. My deepest sympathy to the family. They have lost a great man.

God be with you all.

Tonight, in a better place, a new hunter has taken his place around the great camp fire. My thoughts and prayers to Mrs. Hoffman and her family.

I never had the pleasure of meeting George, but have loved reading his book and feel as if I know him personally from his writing. As indicated by his many friends on this forum, he will be sadly missed and long remembered, but it should be a major comfort to his family and close friends that he lived the life he wanted and apparently achieved fulfillment in doing it. May we all aspire to his accomplishments in that regard.

I only met him briefly one time at the DSC show in Dallas.

He was the type of guy whom you could instantly tell was a class act!

The hunting world has lost a hero!

My prayers are with the family.

My condolences to the Hoffman family !

The passing away of a great hunting figure always strikes the hardest with the hunters he left behind but I'm sure that he will enjoy his time in the hunters paradise with the rest of the greats !

Although we never met I got to know you from reading your book. Having read your words I feel as though we have shared many campfires, sundowner in hand. Rest in peace.

In Botswana, they still recalled fondly "George Hoffman" and his "special rifle" with great respect, around the campfire, as lions roared in the distance. He is missed around the world.

My deepest condolences to your family.

George will be missed at this camp fire, but we all look forward to visiting with him in the cool of the evening, in that place where there is no pain or suffering. Rest well, George. You have fought the good fight, run the good race. Thank you for all you have given us.

Most sincerely-Ku-dude

I will never forget my conversation with Mr. Hoffman at the Dallas show this year. I purchased one of his books and we spoke as he was signing it. He was such a kind gentleman. He spoke about hunting Africa with my 8 year old twin girls for several minutes. They were mesmerized. Heck, so was I!
