Folks,
Ernie is headed out tomorrow to hunt for ten days with Dudley Rodgers of Tschabezi Safaris in Zimbabwe for buffalo and a cattle-killing lion! Let's all wish him the best... even though he probably doesn't need it! Remember last year he did a quota clean-up hunt for elephant and tripped over and shot a 60 pound bull on the first day. Eeker

He will probably drop a 45" buff and a lion with a hairy black mane down to his back toes by Wednesday of next week! Wink

Good hunting and straight shooting buddy! Take lots of pictures.

The title of this thread is "Good Luck Els" and the hunter is referred to as "Ernie"

I may be out of the loop, but who is the hunter referred to?

Is it, in fact, The Big Easy himself?

.404,
Most all use various noms de guerre here on AR and identify ourselves when the need arises. els is the nom de guerre of a MD buddy of mine here in Texas who flys out this afternoon for Zimbabwe and posts under his initials. e stands for Ernest or Ernie... if he wishes to identfy himself further he can, but at this point he is probably repacking for the fourteenth time! All the best...

Just had a phone conversation with Ole Ernie while he rests up in the hotel room before his departure. I can tell you boys, he is as giddy as a school girl on prom night (and rightly so!). Although I have just returned from a super successful Zambia hunt with Bwanamrm (please read his post), I can't help but be jealous. Cheer to you Els...hunt hard, shoot straight and good luck! cheers

Thanks for the info.

I couldn't resist trying to see if it was Ernie Els. I saw him on an SAA flight, and on another flight I was in the same row as Nick Price and his wife (His kids were in economy!)

I often wondered if these southern African golfers hunt too
