My PH advised that Honey Badger is now importable from SA. I would like to be able to take one if the opportunity comes up. Does anyone know the permit procedure and is there time to get it done before a July 2013 hunt?

That's news to me. Never knew that it was not importable from SA. I know of plenty of people that have shot them. I do not know of any Cites permit required by the US to import Honey Badger.

I shot one in 2011 in SA. I believe the outfitter had to apply for a permit to hunt it.(extra cost) That was in Limpopo, i believe there was a limit to how many could be shot in any one year. Importing it to the US was no problem at all. Best to check with the outfitter.

My outfitter is claiming that it is on the cites list. Appendix I II III. He forwarded letters from a SA taxidermist and Trophy Exporter to that effect.

Noproblem with Honey Badger !!! I have had numerous clients shoot a badger with NO problems at all !! The Outfittershould just apply for the hunt permit in advance . This could take 2-3 weeks ...
