In Africa, Murphy rules. Debbie Gracy called me about 1:00pm today and advised that Air Namibia had cancelled the flight I was on to Mpacha on the 17th. I may be able to go up on the 14th, but that ruins all my tour and fishing. Also what do I do since my hunt doesn't start until 18th. Also, AN may or may not have cancelled the flight on the 3rd that bring me back to Windhoek, and I must be on the Lufthansa flight the evening of the 4th. AND because the tickets are not tied, the change of one does not give me any basis for changing the latter without paying added money. Anyway, here I sit two days before leaving and I don't know whether to cancel my tour arrangements or not. Vaughn has a client chartering out at the time I need to go up, but that doesn't get me home. Maybe this is a test of whether I am really able to enjoy myself with this level of uncertainty. Yes, I can. I leave my arrangements along; I take the reverse charter; we shoot the elephant early; go down to central Namibia and do some more hunting for kudu and dik dik, and drive the rest of the way to Windhoek on 9/3. It works for me. Kudude

Unbelievable. I'm surprised they cancelled a flight during the tourist season. That's not to say you will not have other cancelled flights. Oops, I shouldn't have said that. Whatever you do or happens, have fun and get a big one. ------------------------------- Will Stewart / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. When we were there in June/July, Air Namibia had all their internal flights cancelled. Some argument over maintenence records. We ended up riding up from Windhoek to Katima via Dial-A-Driver. The ride was about ten hours and let us see some of Namibia we haven't seen before. Not a big deal from our perspective. Coming back from Katima, we shared a charter and , while the pilot left a little to be desired, we were able to actually see the Okavango Delta from the air instead of just flying over it at 30000 feet. The only advice I remember from Ray Atkinson was to "put your give-a-shitter" in neutral. It helps when dealing with Africa. Last I heard AN had replaced the daily flights from Windhoek to Katima with a once weekly flight. "There always seems to be a big market for making the clear, complex."
