In a few weeks time, we head off to the Selous, for another enjoyable adventure with old friends.

Alan is over there preparing everything, trying his best to make sure there are no complaints.

Not going to happen.

We will always find something to complain about it, especially this year, as we have two old safari friends are joining us after a long absence.

Todd and Dwight, two gentleman one is never going to find any better as friends.

They both have suffered on previous safaris, and they could not refuse another African safari.

Snakes, scorpions, crocs, Walter and the rest of us, will make sure they have a memorable time on safari!

We are all looking forward to having another great hunt.

And I hope you will join us here for my daily "hunt" report rotflmo

I uploaded these photos earlier, but due to the server upgrade something went wrong

Brother Don fixed it, and now they are here.

I use hiking or walking shoes.

The pair I use have been in use for several months, walking all over the world.

I put them on in the morning at camp, and never take them off until I get back to camp.

I wear even when crossing rivers.

At Ted end of the safari I leave them for one of our trackers.

Sometimes we have to cross a very wide sandy river.

Walter is only in a small section, so everyone takes their shoes off.

Forgetting that the rest of the river is sand.

Very hot sand at midday!

You should every trying to break the Olympic record, while I just walk normally! clap

Hess’s started school this week.

We are planning a special trip just for her, before long I hope.

She is practicing and shooting extremely well.

Won’t be long before she out shoots me! clap

In the areas we hunt, you would not be able to walk 100 yards barefoot without getting cut to shreds by thorns! Smiler

My standard load for the two 375/404 rifles we use on safari is 85 grains of H4350, Federal 215, in either Norma or RWS formed brass.

Velocity is around 2750 FPS.

Every year, about this time I load our ammo, and fire a couple of rounds in both rifles to check the Zero.

I loaded the ammo, and fired two rounds in one rifle.

Velocity was 2751 FPS.

Both shots were cutting each other 1.5 inches above point of aim!

I fired one round in the second rifle.

Landed smack on the two from the other gun!!

Consistency.

Year after year.

Despite all these years of use, both rifles still shoot very accurately.

Only person complains about them is Walter! rotflmo

Yes.

We have been using our own Walterhog bullets now for many years.

Work like a charm.

300 grains.

Participants in this year's episode.

No change to the A-Team.

Roy, Alan and me.

And we do tend to live to the name of George Pappard's A-Team TV series - with all that goes wrong! rotflmo

The B Team is Maktoum, Walter, Pete and Gary.

The Z Team is Todd, Dwight, Dean and Wayne.

All of our teams are well known for turning a good day upside down - I get the impression some characters tend to do this on purpose.

The A Team's members have over a hundred years of hunting experience between them, and manage to correct what goes wrong.

Both B and Z teams are stuck on that old saying "when you are in a hole, dig deeper"!

I am laughing already on what I can imagine happening! rotflmo
