Very sad to hear indeed.

Isn't he the man who survived both a lion and a buffalo attack?

I have never heard of him or maybe never took notice of the name but it is always sad when one of us in the hunting world passes away.

My condolences to his family and friends.

He's the fellow who sued Federal Ammunition, claiming that their ammunition, loaded with Trophy Bonded Bear Claws were 'defective' because they failed to expand on a lion he shot.

This was discussed here a few years back: Rohwer vs. Federal Ammunition.

Fortunately, his suit was dismissed. Rohwer lawsuit

Pretty sad to hear that, Reno and hear attacks did what lions and buffalo couldn't.

Hope he's in a place with lots of 50 inch buffalo and 650 pound black maned simba.

Hell of a thing.

I was no fan of his - so on the principle of de mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est, will only say may he rest in peace.

He was a screwy guy and not particularly good with people who wanted their ass kissed but he was one of the very, very best.

Sad. Frowner

From reading some of Mr. Rohwer"s accounts of hunting in Zambia and actually pioneering in some areas it is obvious that he lived to enjoy the essence of what was wild Africa. I wish I could have hunted some of these areas with him. One thing I found interesting was the practice of sending the client ahead to do the final few feet of the stalk alone when hunting non dangerous game. This indicates to me that he didn't need his ego stroked a lot . RIP Sir.

One could do a lot worse than the above, for an epitaph! Thanks Gator1.

The only thing wrong with Rolf was that I couldn't afford his hunts. He was known as one of the best. I saw him at the show. Let us all consider how brief and fragile life can be.
