HUNTING THE SPIRAL HORNS: KUDU
The Top African Antelope
edited by Peter Flack
2012 Johannesburg, 1st edn, 292pp, profuse color photos, maps, 8.25x10.75 inches, hardcover
ISBN: 978-0-9814424-8-8

Peter Flack is a well-known African hunter and a man who has collected all the spiral-horned antelopes in Africa. In this book on the greater and lesser kudu, he gives us his own hunting experiences for all varieties of greater kudu (Cape, southern, East African, Abyssinian, and western) as well as hunts for lesser kudu in Tanzania and Ethiopia. But more than that he has had outfitters, guides, and experienced sport hunters give us their stories on Africa's "gray ghost." Some of the contributors include James Mellon, Brian Herne, Tony Thomkinson, Robin Hurt, Alain Lefol, Anthony Dyer, and Peter Kennedy; in all sixteen people contributed to this book. The book is a mix of scientific data, how to hunt kudu, the best places to hunt kudu, and exciting stories about some of the largest kudus ever hunted-including absolute monsters with 60- and, yes, sometimes, 70-inch horns! Apart from in-depth research on the greater and lesser kudu, there are chapters on rifles, ammunition, clothing, and equipment. Outstanding photographs provided by contributors and professional photographers complement the book. Altogether, there are 396 color and 16 black and white photographs, and this includes photos of world records and former world records. This new title by author Peter Flack will make a welcome addition to any hunting-book collection while providing a worthwhile reference source and top-quality entertainment. After reading this book, you will gain insight into hunting the kudu-that glorious ghost of the African bush and the top African antelope. Foreword by James Mellon.

Ann, your Kudu bull has been one my favourite - tight curls and outward poiting tips! Wow!

Ann, quit posting that photo. You know how inferior it makes us feel...maybe that's why you do it.
