Zambia is not closing

HERE IS THE ABSOLUTE STRAIGHT AND FINAL WORD ON ZAMBIA CLOSING: Yes it is.......No it's not.
Yes it is.........No it's not. Yes it is...........No it's not. Yes it is........No it's not. Yes it is.......No it's not..........................Somebody with half a brain and one eye post something here that makes sense.
And even if you do.......Personally, I WILL NOT believe you. For Gawd's sake. This is Africa - who knows what is really going to happen.

From what I understand, Zambia has closed, or is closing, hunting to its own people, but the international safari trade continues, at least for now.

Zambia has NOT closed hunting but has rather shut down the Wildlife Department - ZAWA - pending investigations into corruption regarding the recent tendering of the Government Concessions.

This is a clean up operation and was initiated by our proactive Government. Basically a full audit and inspection is being undertaken. Most of ZAWA's top official's have been suspended or fired. The gates to the premises are closed.

However there has been varying statements from relevant Ministries which have caused some confusion.

The Government has announced and called a stakeholders meeting tomorrow in order to resolve and clarify these issues.

Personally I would predict a rollover for this year. However tomorrows meeting will tell?

What a tragic situation, I think which ever decision was made it was bound not to have suited some companies.

There is no doubt that this will have a dramatic effect on bookings in Zambia for this year and possibly the future as court battles will surely take place.

I am glad I did not bid on a concession. In my opinion large scale game ranching (non fenced) is the way to go.
