Just visited SE Sudan on "Google Earth" Smiler and was surprised to see how wild and undeveloped this area is compared to East and Southern Africa.
Via Google Earth it looks like a Safari Paradise of immense size which include palm filled creeks beds, Savanna, minimal Roads, Villages and farm land.

Has any one traveled or better still hunted this area south east of Jubba?

If anybody has hunted in recent years in that area it would be unusual to say the least. At present the Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) does not allow legal sport hunting and is trying to set up National Parks first to provide some totally protected zones as a nucleus. I don't think legal hunting will occur for several years. There is a herd of about 80 elephants near Nimule (not far from the Ugandan border) which has already been identified and protection is their first concern. The SPLA lived off bush meat for many years but did not annihilate the animal populations, knowing they might need them for years for food.

I will be in Juba beginning next Tuesday for at least a week, but won't be travelling to those areas.

Back in '88 and later, I used to fly relief into Juba. We flew a general over from Nairobi one trip and he told me that nobody left town because of the land mines. I have a friend working on the road paralleling the old bypass canal and he says many of the mines have been cleared. but I certainly wouldn't go for a walk in the bush, anyway.

Edit: Emailed him and got a quick reply. He says mine clearance is underway, but don't go for a walk in the bush outside of Juba. He's been based out of there for several months and is still doing the road project. He says the primary mine clearance projects are directed at the bigger populated areas.

He also said he's seen plenty of ele and cats out in the bush.
