Last year I earned $14,315.00 gross in the travel business. It is obvious I could have earned a lot more in another line of work. I love this job and talking to clients about their trips.

I am a one person operation.I will make mistakes and things will fall through the cracks.

I consider the AR members my friends. The risk of losing you as a friend is not worth the few dollars earned from the airline ticket should a mistake be made. When this happens I feel I let a friend down.

So please, take your business to one of the major travel agencies. This way we can remain friends.

I will always be here if you need any help, have any questions, or if you just want to talk about your trip.

Your friend,
Kathi

That's about as straight forward as it gets. Thanks, Kathi!

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

I don't know the full story but no matter what, we are all human and things happen. I don't think anyone here that you would want to do business with has any problems with you.

Hi Kathi

I understand your predicament,

I am similar to you being a one man band working from home, so when things go haywire or out of kilter as they do from time to time, we are alone and dont have back up per se.

Keep up the good work and hang in there,

Sincerly, Peter

Kathy,
We all need to learn from our mistakes. Your input on AR is very helpful and informative. Remember I won two round trip tickets to Africa because of your input. I will always be indebted to you.

Kathi,
We all just knew the fur was going to fly when Mr.Seeker posted his complaint. I have just waded through (briefly!) all three pages of that nest of emails. I noticed Mr. Seeker hasn't replied anymore. My partner and I are going to Tanzania late October 2006 and we will need travel arrangements to and from Billings. I know several travel agents in Billings. Good people by the way, but they spend their time booking business class to Denver and family packages to Disney World or Honolulu. They don't know poop from shoe pollish about third world Africa. I want SOMEBODY WHO DOES. In front of God and Internet, file this email for future business reference and contact me when we can price lock into advance plane tickets. Jet fuel isn't going to get any cheaper either. I see you're in Chicago, so if you book us through O'Hare come out and have a cordial with a couple of Montana country boys. I can see it now, just like Tom Hanks---------"Come back Wilson, Wilson come back!"

Kathi has taken care of me in grand style and continues to do so.

But I do have one problem with her bookings. She booked all my wifes family to Mexico for Thanksgiving ( me included ) and she booked my mother-in-law a return ticket. Here was my chance to live in peace for a while, mother-in-law free and Kathi let her back into the country. I coulden't think of a better place for my mother-in-law to be that in a Mexican jail for somthing but Kathi blew it, I ain't sure what I ever done to Kathi..............JJ

Kathi took care of my travel arrangements to Namibia, recently, and I've never had anyone provide the attention to detail as well as she did.

Kathi,
I think you are a wonderful person, I do not know what happened. When you are a one man operation it will sometimes happen that you are not available to do something or to rectify mistakes made by other. True friends will understand it. I am also a one man operation, it is sometimes very difficult because you cannot always be there. I think your true friends will keep on supporting you. Keep up your good work and don't worry to much about fake friends.

Kathi /

Just a short note ( not advice ) BUT just maybe to help you out in the future.

Myself, being a (one man and his dog) type band where the dog has died, I personally find that having a (dedicated webpage) is of great assistance for everyday bits and bob's of information, and as a contact medium, it might just suit your type of operation immensely I believe !!

In any event (I just mention it to you) so please dont take it that I am a know all, just that I have not looked back since I uploaded a website

Take care

Peter

snowy: take a bit of advice call Kathi or whomever RIGHT NOW! as you stated rates are going to increase. Have her book you on your flights NOW ..that move will lock in your rate at the current price...when new rates are posted you will have 30 days to decide to purchase at the new rate or the current rate.
I myself had talked with Kathi on the phone and several emails were exchanged (which she replied to promptly) to do exactly that....I waited as per her advice, and waited and waited for her call...then I contacted Shawn @ Gracy and in less then 5 minutes was booked and the motels pre/post safari booked as well....locking those current rates, I have until mid December to purchase or the option to wait till May and pay the new rate.
I have no axe to grind with Kathi an nothing to gain either way other than to offer you some free advice.
PS.ever wonder why you can't get a great seat rather than a good one? That's what doing this "pre booking " will get you.
