Just looking for suggestions on where one could go to hunt these two species on one trip.

Also, are full body crocodile mounts feasible?

Thanks everyone.

Try Bahati Adventures at wdupreez@global.co.za Great outfit located south of the Zambezi delta with 100% on buffalo and good crocs. Good luck.

Go to Zimbabwe or Mozambique and if you have the space, go for the FBM. A friend of mine had his done that way.

I saw a really unusual croc mount the other day at Lifeform Taxidermy - It was a full mount that goes onto a wall with it's head raised.....sounds a little strange but it was one of the most impressive I've ever seen.

Buff hunting in Mozambique is usually very challenging because they were hammered for meat rations during the war years but it's one of the best places to get a really big croc.

Another option would be a 14 day licence in Tanzania. Not a particularly cheap option but a fabulous hunt.

Zambia might also be an option but I've no personal experience of that country - perhaps other forum members might be able to advise?

We have an area that just produced the new # 1 SCI Nile crocodile (18'7") and are opening a new area for Nile Buffalo(and hippo). The croc quota is full until mid 2008 though, barring any quota increase. We do have croc hunts scheduled for the next two years at the SCI auctions in Reno and either could be upgraded to include the Nile Buffalo hunt.

Irish Paul,

We were in Omay Zimbabwe 2003 for crocodile. The area has an abundance of croc/buffalo. Regarding the mount, we do not have that kind of space. Animal Artistry does a "crocodile roll". They took the crocodile and rolled it like it was going on a steamer ship back when they were commercial hunting. They wrapped the croc in old leather straps. It really looks great and does not take up much room. The cost was around $1200. Our friend who went with us had his croc done lifesize by Animal Artistry. The mount is fantastic, but was somewhere around $7000.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Right now these are the only 2 animals in Africa that I would like to go after.

I realise that the crocodile hunt may be more of a crocodile "shoot", but ever since I was a child these have both terrified and fascinated me.

Regarding the room for a trophy, my soon to be built house in Stuttgart won't have space, but I am fortunate enough to have a large enough house back in Ireland, which will (hopefully) become a trophy holder!

Thanks again.

P.K.

Do you have any photographs of your mount?

A "Crocodile Roll" sounds like something you order at an expensive Sushi Bar.
