Post of the Year

Bwana MojaPost of the Year
I'd like to nominate KPete's "Sullivan Doctrine" post, and Gayne's "Possum Charge" post, as an earlier poster suggested, as Post of the Year.
I think we should agree on three more posts from other members, and conduct a vote and hand out an online award as thee "Post of the Year." The award should be named the "Saeed Award" in recognition of the gentleman who conceived this site.
Now in the same vein as Post of the Year, I think we should have an ignoramus poster of the year award. That could be named the "Andy Award" in recognition of-well let's say-a former member of AR who had a distinction of writing pretty stupid stuff.
Your nominations please.
Now if you guys really wanted to take this one step further and truly validate this site as a blog that's highly influential in the hunting world, you could have the "AR Awards", honoring...
1) PH of the Year...(I would nominate Ivan)
2) Hunter of the Year...(I would nominate Aaron)
3) Trophy of the Year
4) Shot of the Year...along with the previous mentioned
5) Saeed Award...and the
6) Andy Award
With 2009 officially ending in about 48 hours, we would probably extend the deadline on voting till about Jan 5th in the best interests of fairness. Now if this post suggestion falls flat on it's face and dies out, I will totally understand. Influence and honoring it's own is probably the last thing on the minds of members here, given the level of criticism another well known organization receives here, for kinda doing something similar.

BrettAKSCIGood idea Moja! It only seems fair to nominate Andy Drook for the first ever Andy Drook award. Not for any one work or quote mind you, but for his body of work on the whole!
I second Gayne's quote for the Saeed award!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

nkonkaMarc,
very nice idea. Do forgive me though for this little suggestion. The Andy should be reserved or restricted to a certain forum like this one. God knows if the cess pool of the PF were allowed nominations we'd be in big doo-doo.

JTHuntTrophy of the year - Ahmed Sultan's elephant taken with Darren Smit and Miombo Safaris IMO
Saeed award - I think KPete's posts are the most reasoned, rounded and well put of anybody's on these forums.
Used to like MRLexma for this as well, but he has been outshaded.
Unfortunately there will be a tight race to the finish for the Andy award
Cheers all

Kamo GariHow can you even have considered this without having a Walterhog award?

FrostbitHarry Selby had the post of the year hands down.....
"In my fifty five years of professional hunting my respect for the .375 H&H cartridge has increased each time I saw it used. In my opinion the greatest cartridge ever developed. I would prefer to see a visiting hunter arrive for his safari with such a rifle than with a double of any caliber."30 December 2009, 23:59
JTHuntWith all due respect I submit that it should be POSTER of the year rather than a single post...

LionHunterThe ANDY AWARD!!! Moja, you're killin' me!

And I agree totally with Brett. The only person who should be considered for the first ever ANDY AWARD must be Andy Drook himself, as no one else even comes close to his level.

Idaho SharpshooterIF, IF we go with Andy then we would have to retire the award. Who is big enough in legend here to be able to kiss Andy's ass (metaphorically speaking, none of that kinky stuff here) even if standing on his mother's shoulders?

safari-lawyerShot of the year would either be that child shooting a water buffalo at point blank range with a smallbore rifle
OR
Tex Grebner shooting zombies with his tactical Marlin 30-30.
If neither of those worked, I have a big leopard shot by moonlight that might make the final cut.

Gayne C. YoungI would be honored to accept any award or title bestowed upon me by the fine members of the AR community.
Might I suggest that all nominees are flown to Saeed’s secret cheetah cub infested lair for the presentation and that the award’s show be aired live on the website.
I think it would also be nice if the nominees could fire Saeed’s mega cannon in the basement without having to be filmed.
