Well, I will stick my neck out and call this a load of bloody bullshit!

For starters, she sounds just like the person one would need to keep out of this fight.

This seems to be just like those ex-military idiots fighting rhino poaching in South Africa and making a TV series about it.

Too much Hollywood grandstanding and not much substance!

A la Mark Sullivan sort of bullshit clap

The title doesn't really reflect what the vets are doing in Tanz. They aren't killing poachers themselves but training Tanz Game Rangers in anti poaching techniques that include shooting, medical response, self protection etc.

The guys in the Rhino Wars show were perfectly capable of taking out the poachers but were never allowed to do so. I see this as training based upon what I read. That might actually be good.

But wait Walt and Larry, you guys are interrupting the tag team of Saeed and Bakes getting another Mark Sullivan bashing thread ginned up here!

It's been a bit slow here on the forum for the past few months, other than the new firearms exporter exemption requirement. Therefore Saeed has pulled out his old MS fail safe.

I'm predicting 10 pages minimum.

If the South African government wanted to shut down Rhino poaching they could do it in a matter of months. The fact that it continues shows who's really facilitating the practice.

Tanzanian game scouts, great guys (and at least one gal) that they are, could use some serious firearms training. No further comment.

I don't claim to be a wordsmith, but my career depends on how things are put down on paper (now we can add lawyers to the typical SCI and Sullivan hate), but the wording at the end of the paragraph concerns me a tad:

"Kinessa Johnson is a former Army veteran who spent 4 years of her life in Afghanistan. She just recently made a trip to Africa in order to take on a new mission. Here’s how she described her new endeavor: “We’re going over there to do some anti-poaching, kill some bad guys, and do some good.” Johnson joined Veterans Empowered To Protect African Wildlife (VETPAW) as an anti-poaching advisor. VETPAW is a non-profit organization dedicated to employing US Veterans in order to help preserve and protect African wildlife from illegal poaching and hunting."

Did anyone else catch that?

In her 4 yrs in the US mil. She was a mechanic and weapons instructor,
and in that time also served a tour in Afghanistan,

IN her video she highlights about going over to do some killing of bad guys,
but in other recorded statements she says something very different.

quote:

"Our intention is not to harm anyone; we're here to train park rangers so they can track and detain poachers
and ultimately prevent poaching."

quote:

Johnson is quick to point out that she's not a "poacher hunter."

"I'm a technical adviser to anti-poaching rangers so I patrol routinely with them
and also assist in intelligence operations," she said.

"Most of the time anyone that is in a reserve with a weapon is considered a threat and can be shot if rangers feel threatened.
Our goal is to prevent trigger pulling through strategic movements and methods of prevention."

Those recorded statements are nothing like the hyped-Up Gungo-ho killing CRAP she spins in the video.
and numerous articles about here are falsely headlined as her 'hunting poachers', and thats understandable since
that is the impression she gives in the video.

quote:

"(VETPAW) was searching for a female to train female park rangers so I applied and was selected," she said.

Why does one need a female to train a female park ranger?

I think a woman covered in tough-man-stickers and gung-Ho BS spinning & parading around with a self-loader,

In promo photos she's all kitted out out like she's ready to stop A surge of Alqaeda hardliners on a besieged US compound,
what that kind of action image promo has to do with her actual rather lame non-mil. role with some Female park rangers in Africa,
I seriously dont know.

10 pages of open discussion is nothing compared to wannabe hunters buying into a Silly Sullivan, heavy breathing, toting a 600 Nitro Express, B Movie announcing "I let the buffalo decide how he dies"

Honestly, can anyone one an IQ of 10 do not see the whole stupid act?

"I let the buffalo decide how he dies" with the buffalo lying half dead already, in plane sight, and our self aggrandizing great white hunter looking at it with a rifle in his hands??

From Butlers link:

quote:
When I first dared to question this gimmicky ad campaign that seems to put a cheap face on a legitimate cause, I was overwhelmed
by positive response from fellow veterans and actual seasoned counter-poachers in Africa for saying what they were all thinking.

One cannot expect A society of many shallow minds who mostly know nothing much more than their mundane rutted life
and mainstream media education
to really know or perceive what a much smaller proportion of awares people can clearly see-identify as a SHAM.

quote:
Why are people so easily fooled today by a false ad campaign? From what I see, it's either because people don't have the capacity
to look into a matter past a caption on a poster,

Sadly theres lots of stupified Fcking idiots like that around,
despite some them being of mature age, generous wealth and trying pass themselves off as succesful & intelligent.

Some see their national flag on a mil. uniform and then get all proud & mushy, then swallow the BS -hook line and sinker.

quote:
What I thought was curious was that the girl who was arrogantly bragging about going to kill a bunch of bad guys in Africa had, at
another time, said her military background was a 4-month deployment as an army motorpol mechanic and that VETPAW's actual trip to Africa
is to teach the park rangers basic hygiene.

Now we know why the job position specifically called for a 'female' since in common sense,
one wouldn't hire a male to educate FEMALE Park rangers about female issue personal hygiene..... rotflmo

IF this was seriously about training Park rangers to hunt down poachers,
there are Sth African spec.forces [RECCE] vets, with much knowledge & experience in the African bush,
and even the now veteran once hired foreign mercenaries(SAS and other global Spec.Forces guys) for the African conflicts.

quote:
..If you want to collect the donated funds based upon your claims of being a seasoned and highly-capable and experienced
terrorist/poacher killer, shouldn't you actually be one?

If someone printed an ad calling me an astronaut and I'd never been one, I'd make them pull the ad. Wouldn't that be the right thing to do?

So by not doing that with her exaggerated ad campaign, she's obviously good with accepting the credit for being a seasoned and highly-capable
operator, which she obviously isn't.

That qualification usually requires at least a decade of hardcore sacrifice and performance, multiple combat deployments and is all too often
fatal, due to the level of risk and danger involved in such an extreme profession. That's where the insult and the "stolen valor" comes in.

Those who actually do the direct action missions against poachers in Africa are mostly seasoned spec ops veterans, because big game poaching
there is directly tied to the major terrorist groups and the illicit poaching industry is a lucrative one. The stakes are high and the consequences are real.

The girl i believe was caught in the lure of oportunistic success & fame and likely some level of increased financial gain/fortune,
very much like some peoples self-aggrandising celebrity idol... X-navy SEAL-Chris Kyle.

When such worldly things tempt a person, their propensity to distort the truth or simply lie, is vastly increased.

BY doing so she has dishonored her service uniform and the cause she claims to represent in Africa.

quote:
The endangered animal defense cause is legit. Let's not dishonor it with insulting ad campaigns like this.

What exactly did you think she was, considering that every combat arms job in the US Army, Navy, and Marines is closed to women still. Posers for the Animal Planet Channel, nothing more.
