Another misguided idiot!

Someone should ask them about the state of lions in Kenya, which had stopped hunting for years.

I keep hearing about the state of game in Kenya but never any descriptions of what has happened, and why.

The big consideration is that IFAW runs Kenya Wildlife and has done so for a number of years, and is busy inveigling it's way in all over Africa. Unfortunately fruitcakes and flakes like DiCaprio and their ilk wield a tremendous influence over their weak willed and easily influenced followers. We as hunters are long overdue in doing anything to counter these threats and too damn divided in our own little worlds to be effective. We need to come together, put our differeces aside and fight those who are actively destroying our sport and eventually the wildlife itself.
We are facing an enemy who has to be challenged and in all reality has to be destroyed in one way or another. The only way for this to be accomplished is for hunters to get together and formulate a plan to counter these insidious people.

Just see what can be done, it cannot just stop here. http://forums.accuratereloadin...1411043/m/2871047481

The problem is that true conservationists are hindered by the systemic corruption in the governments of these african countries.

For the anti's this corruption actually helps them a great deal, they can either bribe officals outright. Or point to corrupt game management practices as ammo to help get hunting shut down.

We need to remember that we are fighting with permanent a handicap: We actually want what is best for the african game. Because you can't hunt extinct species.

African government officals just want to get paid.

The anti movements just want to push through thier ideology, and get paid.

I quite agree with Scriptus that the Hollywood folks that are on our side could be a bit more vocal as they certainly carry a lot of weight and star power...and these people are there!

I don't think Tom will answer my calls, but he may be persueded by the likes of SCI or DSC! Maybe even Ivan Carter or Craig Boddington could bend his ear.

My point is we aren't doing enough with he tools we have. Fighting for our cause on the political front is all I really see we do. In reallity, our biggest enemy is the general public. This is great, but we as hunters need to appeal to the Public the way 'they' do, via star power and some sort of public campaign strategy.

The video that Osprey and crew have developed is a good start, but I needs endoresment and mass distribution oustide of our hunting community. We have been preaching to the choir with no results.

Despite what others may think, I believe we have the financial backing if we seek it out, and I know we have the star power to endorse our industry.

It seems to me that this is how the antis have created their success, I just can't believe we haven't retaliated in the same way. We are smarter than them, at least we like to say we are on this forum, so let's show them!!

If they have gained the upper hand (and so far they have), they have factually proved to be smarter than us Wink
We have indeed retaliated by blowing our foghorns in an antagonistic way, effects of which have only fueled the fire and its payback time looming.
The Hollywood stars are going to come to our rescue? Watch them duck for cover its not the kind of publicity they want as they rely heavily on the general public ($$)!

I may be wrong of course. coffee

What is generally not known is, the huge number of celebrities who are involved in hunting, but are scared of showing it.

Noe much different from some of our own members here who state they are not showing their hunting photos and videos because they are scared of a backlash!

So nice to see there are Americans, in fact Californians Wink, who actually see that the root cause of the biggest problem is the corruption of African politicians by greedy Hunting Outfitters. This then opens the door for Anti's to also bribe and, very dangerously, point out corrupt acts by Government Nature Conservation Officials!

As a Hunting Outfitter I do not really know who the corrupt officials are - I don't deal with them! But I often have a pretty good idea of who the corrupting Hunting Outfitters are - those that operate in areas where a normal HO will not ever stand a chance of getting a concession!

Hunters who book with HO's that offer these "amazing deals" [that are often simply "almost to good to be true"] are IMHO just as guilty as the corrupting HO's who bribe officials!

My late mother taught me a few lessons in life, one of which is: Honesty is the best policy, always! My plea is for hunters and HO's to keep your dealings honest! Always!

In good hunting.

Its a shame, hunters make an easy target.
Anyone that calls themselves a conservationist should be challenged to address the real threat to the african lion. Loss of habitat and human encroachment will be the deciding factor for the lions future.

I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

Very true--the same with celebrities who are political conservatives.

The problem is, they make their living in Hollywood or New York or wherever movies and TV shows are made, and admitting to being a hunter is the kiss of death to their careers, especially to those who are younger and less well-established. Same goes for political stances: if you're not a bleeding heart liberal you're not going to get many parts.

People like Selleck, who are established or who just don't GAS, are rare.

Val Kilmer is another Hollywood type who hunts, I think, and IIRC, a few years ago he made a documentary about hunting as a means of conservation--seems like it was called "Africa Unbottled" os similar.

It sure isn't like the old days, when people like Clark Gable, William Holden, and even a number of high-profile female stars regularly hunted and made no secret of it.

The tabloids are Hollywoods ultimate nemesis. They can also be bought quite easily it seems.

Pay them to run a story regarding the hypocrisy of characters like Leo and we could possibly start to turn the tables.

What if a celebrities 'New' career could be made by promoting conservation through hunting? Again, where is our money to SCI and DSC going if not to fund such a venture. Surely a big risk, but without risk, there is no reward.

Craig Boddington predicted the end of hunting in Africa around this time or slightly before the present time, luckily he was wrong. But i fear that my son will not only never get to hunt Africa, but opportunities locally may also be severely restricted as well....And all because stupid people (read: anti's)are the majority in this world!!! Not on my watch....

Here's what's really sad:
Last week Dallas Safari Club announced their stance on hunting African lions, in a nutshell that only lions of 6 years and up should be taken by hunters. I posted the release on Game Trails Online. It was posted on quite a few other sites. Unfortunately, not enough hunters clicked on the article. This means Google never registered the piece for their Google Alert (How many news sources get material).
This week DiCapro puts out a news release on lions and due to his fame it’s picked up by Google Alerts almost instantly.
Moral of the story: Google picks up on traffic. And traffic makes news. Can hunters compete with DiCaprio? Maybe…if everybody clicked on articles, passed those articles along, shared them on Facebook, etc.
