I was having a chat with a friend of mine this evening, and we got on the topic of George Strait. Being a fellow Texan, and growing up on his music....I've always been a HUGE fan of his, and the way he has carried himself over the years as a country music artist.

I've always known he was an avid whitetail hunter, and that he owns a large ranch near Pearsall, TX. But my friend told me that she heard a radio interview with George a few years ago about how he likes to hunt in Africa. I was excited to hear about this, and did a quick Google search when I got home. My search resulted with several articles which mentioned it. Here is one article from 2009:

George Strait Returns From Third African Safari

Whether you're a fan of George or not, you have to admit that it's nice to see one of the most famous people in America spending their time and money enjoying African hunting. According to one of the articles (not the one above), on the most recent trip he and his son both took a Leopard each, and his son took a Lion as well. And from the way it is mentioned in the article above, it sounds like they were hunting one of the more "wild" areas such as Zimbabwe, where a tented camp was used. So I highly doubt they were hunting "canned" Lion or Leopard. (I don't have proof of this, of course, but until proven otherwise that is what I choose to believe).

Anyways....I thought some of you might enjoy knowing that George hunts in Africa, and according to him, plans to keep doing so.

He hunted elk on Arizona's White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation for many years. Don't know if he still does, though.

If I ever win the lottery (or strike it rich by some other means)....I will most definitely hunt the White Mountain Apache Reservation.

I wonder if George knows Jack Brittingham. Jack used to hunt the White Mountain Res. frequently....and also used to hunt with TGTS. In fact, I believe Jack is now part owner in TGTS.
