I was wondering if anybody here has some new info on how well it does. Given all of the variables is it accurate? The talk of a 416-375 Ruger is this just talk or Ruger/Hornaday really going to make it? Thanks for your replys

You might want to go to the BIG BORE forum and do some reading. Bill Member DSC,DRSS,NRA,TSRA A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way. -Mark Twain There ought to be one day - just one – when there is open season on Congressmen. ~Will Rogers~

No experience with the 375 Ruger, but I can tell you this, if the 416 is going to be a reality this year Ruger or Hornady will probably announce it at the S.H.O.T. show in Vegas Feb. 2-8. I know there will be at least 2 new cartiges this year fron ruger but neither of them are a 416. We will know more after the show. I follow Rule #62.

I think you're making an unfair assumption. I have a .375 Alaskan and while I wouldn't call the recoil light, I would say that it's not much different than some .338 rifles that I've fired. Various people perceive recoil differently. Maybe the new Rugers are immune to the laws of physics. I'm not knocking the cartridge, as a matter of fact I rather like it. I'm just saying that 270 grains at 2800 recoils like 270 grains at 2800. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

Maybe it is just the way the stock fits me. I have only fired 20 rounds through the 375 Ruger. 10 were my handloads and 10 were Hornady 270 grain loads. I would have to figure it up but I would estimate that on an annual basis I shoot 250-500 rounds of ammo through rifles ranging from 284-375 caliber. I understand the laws of physics, just giving an honest opinion of what MY perception of the recoil of this rifle is on MY shoulder. I have a Browning Model 12 20 gauge shotgun that just about breaks my jaw when I shoot it. I would rather shoot any rifle I have as opposed to it and it stays in the safe other than to maybe look at it once in awhile. Do you really think it's as simple as that? Stock design, stock fit, rifle weight, recoil pad, LOP, cheek weld, etc all come in to play for PERCEIVED recoil. -+-+- "If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." - The Dalai Lama

I second the bit about the 375 Ruger kicking less than expected. I have an Alaskan. It does get to be a bit much from the bench after awhile.
