Tried this in "Big Bore" forum but didn't many hits so thought I'd try it here, believe this is more of an overseas bullit

Looking for opinions on .375 Norma's Oryx 300 grn bullet; I'm not going to Africa, yet (but my son wants an Safari to Africa for his High School graduation present), they will be used on moose, caribou, and black bear; I have Swift A Frames for brown bears

Abob,

I've only seen the Oryx in 6.5mm used and the expansion was way up there...........might be too much of an expander for some game in 375H&H.......depends what your son wants to shoot with it.........

But for moose, caribou and black bear they would be perfect I would think.

I have shot one buffalo with a 286grn Oryx from my 9,3x62. Worked ok, but penetration was a little marginal for poor angle shots. Fine for a client, but not for a PH taking a back up shot.

I love them for lion, just about perfect balance between expansion and penetration.

Have also used them fairly extensively for shooting Eland and Zebra for lion bait. Work well.

They were designed for moose, so should be fine for all north american game except perhaps polar bear

I recently read a bullet review from 2005? It stated the Oryx held together fine (bonded) but expanded the most and quickest of the tested bullets.
I think Ganyana uses them in his 9.3x62 IIRC.
They may just be constructed a little stouter for the H&H. The ones I saw tested were 180g, 300 win mag.
I think they will be fine for Moose, Black Bear, and Caribou from the 375 H&H.
Good Luck
