We were hunting in Chete, Zimbabwe.

There was a very big croc in the Senkwe River, which has managed to evade us for a long tim.

One day we were up in the hills overlooking the river, and saw him sunning himself on the bank of the river.

He was a long way away, and we had to make a very long detour to get to him.

We got downwind, and had to crawl through some horrible reeds.

He was in a bend on the five, and our approach got us behind him, with the river between us.

As we peeked through the reeds, we saw him facing away.

Not an ideal position to shoot a croc, but, there was no choice!

I fired at him.

Suddenly we realized we have made a big mistake, as he lifted his head in his death throws.

I fired another shot to make sure he stayed put.

We could see this was far too small!

We went to get him, and found him to be 10.5 feet!!

Apparently the old left left while we were trying to make our there, and this one replaced him in the same spot!

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time!

Roy was very upset, Alan me could not stop laughing! clap

One does not pay for a crocodile by the foot. But one does pay.

Yet money is only a means to an end.

Bravo for a good time had.

Saeed,

I had a similar experience and was hunting with a pretty lady. In order to get the shot I had to ask her to slide up my back and rest there. She shot the croc but for the life of me all I can vividly remember is her body sliding up against mine.

I remember reading of a client who shot 2 leopard cubs (half grown) as the PH had not done his homework & mistook it for an adult and that it came back after a first shot miss!!!

They found 2 dead juveniles at the foot of the tree.
