Croc kills girl Herald Reporter March 5, 2010 A 14-year-old Mutoko girl was attacked and killed by a crocodile last Friday while crossing the flooded Nyadire River with a colleague. Police confirmed the incident and said the hunt for Lindiwe Chimbwanda’s remains was ongoing. Mashonaland East Acting provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thando Madhoyo on Monday said police and Parks and Wildlife Management Authority officials were conducting the search together. Asst Insp Madhoyo said on February 26 this year, Lindiwe and Viola Katongoro (19) of Village 22 in Mutoko were going to Tabudirira Village when tragedy struck. "Viola rushed to inform the villagers who had been alarmed by the screams from the two and the villagers rushed to the river to rescue Lindiwe, but they failed since the crocodile had already dragged her down the river," Asst Insp Madhoyo said.
