If you want one for reference (as opposed to decoration) then Michelin makes an excellent road map. It's available at Amazon.com

Michelin Africa Central & South, Madagascar

(It's in English also.)

Try The Africa Guide or The University of Texas Libraries. I got one off the tu (my wife is an AGGIE, so I must not use "UT") site and printed it on 11x17 paper.

If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.

The Michelin maps are very good in my opinion and three together give you the whole continent. It is a great wall map when assembled and if you have have enough height under you ceiling for all three together. Local place names are in the local language, whatever language map you buy and I like that feature.

For a decorative, but interesting map, try "The Game Fields and Reserves of Africa" by Rowland Ward and available through Safari Press.

S. Texan,

You need to specify what the map is for; decorative or for finding places.

The Michelin map mentioned is good for getting an overveiw of of citys, towns, national parks and main roads (It's not detailed enough for real navigation and driving in africa except for main roads in IMO, but is good for planning purposes). It is however a big map if you tape all three parts (Northwest, Northeast, and southern africa) together. Depends on how much space you have. The southern africa part is about 1.3 meters long, and 1 meter wide. The whole of africa taped together is about 2 meters tall and 1.5 wide.

Anyone have a source for Old Style African Maps? Not the real things because they are very expensive.

Thanks
