Buzz asked me to post Charlton McCallum's final newsletter for the season. My apologies for not being able to post the pictures included in the newsletter.

Last Newsletter – 2010

Dear friends

The clouds are building up over the valley as we talk and the rains are threatening which will bring much relief to all in the valley where temperatures are in the high 40s in the shade! Thankfully it has coincided with the end of what has been an outstanding season for our little company.

As you all know CMS took the plunge and won the Dande Safari Area and this has been our first full season there. It surpasses even our highest expectations!

The elephant hunting in the Dande Safari Area was the best in the valley with our 3 bulls weighing in at 71lbs, 55lbs and 50lbs which was the highest by a fair margin for all the valley areas and Sbardella 71lbs the biggest individual elephant taken in the whole Zambezi Valley this year.

The early season buff hunting was quite difficult with the thick bush due to the heavy rains and also the ever-present lions that are continually troubling the buff. As the season progressed more and more buff poured into the Dande Safari Area and on the last hunt we were seeing several dugga boys a day not to mention numerous large herds with great potential in them - promising for the seasons to come. We had only 1 failed buff hunt out of 35 and we shot some outstanding bulls reiterating that the Dande is still the buffalo capital of the valley.

The cat hunting was exceptional with our full quota of leopard and lion/lioness been shot. All leopard were nice mature males to be proud of.

With an incredible amount of lions in Dande our quota of 1 lion and lioness was very easy to fulfil. We have asked for a substantial increase in lionesses and an extra lion next year as we feel that the lion pressure is affecting our buff numbers. During the season hunters witnessed 10 actual lion kills in front of their eyes as they followed buffalo!

CMS also had another outstanding season in Makuti which is slowly but surely gaining the reputation of been one of the prime areas in Zimbabwe. The cat hunting was second to none with us getting 3 monster leopards and a nice lion.

Not only were we 100% on the cats we shot our full quota of 10 fantastic buffalo and outstanding sable. This is the 4th year running that we have shot a sable knocking on the 45” category making it certainly comparable if not better then the Matetsi blocks.

Finally we would like to thank you all for your support and friendship over the last couple of years an in particular this last season with out which we would not have been able to secure Dande and have had such a fantastic run!!

We look forward to seeing you at Dallas (Booth 853) and Reno (Booth 1662 &1664) and sharing a campfire in 2011!!!

All the best
Buzz, Myles & CMS staff

They certainly had a great year, and they do put on a super high quality hunt. Dande has lots of future potential as we saw many younger buff that would go over 40" and I saw that 60-65lb ele bull. I would like to experience Makuti in the future. Congrats to CM...

Good Hunting,

"Final newsletter" and "final newsletter for the season" mean two different things . . . even in Kansas, Toto.

Toto here,

So what does final season newsletter mean? Smiler

Is that different than:

Final letter of the season?

A seasonal newsletter?

The seasonal finale?

The Christmas newsletter?

The early fall letter of news?

A Tale of Two Cities?

A seasonal Christmas Carol?

Scrooge's newsletter crapped on Tiny Tim?

I'm confused. Smiler

Damn, that sounds like a fine season. Great bull elephant, great cats and what outstanding bosses on those bulls.
